just my .2 cents

Having emotion about not winning races just gets in the way of analyzing why you lost.

Road racing or Gumballing at that displacement/powegfr:weight ratio has never been done in a 1G AWD as far as I know. Nor in many other street cars for that matter.

A buddy of mine running at Road America in a 2G DSM with some v-8 muscle. 150ish top speed.

Your friends tires definitely went away by the end of that video. He did a pretty good job catching up on the corners but was definitely underpowered on the straights. Do you know how often he runs, and if the engine is stock? I am wondering how much abuse on DSM can really handle.

it was his first time at RA. he does auto-X a lot. The internals are stock, it has meth. injection, T-28 turbo, DSMlink, FMIC, nothing too major.

That 2G DSM seems to be balanced pretty well given the shitty drivetrain of most DSMs. The only 4WD drivetrain that's even remotely fun to drive (in my experience) is that of an STI and R33 GTR. You can actually configure these cars to create power oversteer on tarmac. I've heard the EVO 9 is supposed to be power oversteer friendly as well if 'Tarmac' mode is activated. Just that AYC applying brakes to control understeer/oversteer goes competely against all my beliefs. And this post is completely off-topic...
