Fast forward to 2:35.

Probably shoulda showed Grant this vid before he went to Pocono w/ NASA. Apparently they changed their staging standards? This wasn't run by NASA though, but by PDA from what I gather.

Holy fuck! Guess I won't be running with the Pennsylvania chapter PCA ever?

Dumbest. Staging. Ever. Seriously, thats less safe than TOIR (as the volume of cars is higher and people are closer to the limit).

Someone explain to me how the poor guy who escapes death and has his NSX ruined...and the even worse off Infinity driver...

Explain how they were "safer" on the racetrack than on the street?

How are they any less "innocent" than 2 people in a car on the street? Does anyone really believe *cough, cough GRM* that these 2 people who suffered, who clearly have more love and care for their cars than the general public, (and have the same fears of physical injury) does anyone think that they thought a millisecond about the waiver they signed, or that they would go home like this?

Maybe they *DID* if they were smart, responsible and mentally prepared. But most people aren't.

Fact is, poor track management (or any racetrack for that matter) can and more often will be MORE dangerous than the street itself. I wish more people understood the 10ths scale on the street vs. the track. I wish there was a way to measure the 10ths scale of a Taco San Diego Honda that straight-line slams into a van full of kids during a mid day street race. I wish we could compare it to this EVO driver's scale.

It wasn't PCA, it's PDA, which is this: http://www.pdadrivingschool.com/. This was back in '06, which is how apparently all organizations staged their cars since that's what Pocono Raceway told them to do. Not sure which course you ran (this was East), but if you were staged any differently, this is why. I'd probably say Pocono is to blame for telling orgs to stage there, or whoever built the track w/o a staging area.

So I haven't read the standard motorsports waiver recently (yeah, I just sign), but if he got the shit beat out of him after he signed the waiver, he can't hold anyone liable, right?

really? i see no reason to beat the guys ass... its not his fault that they stage cars pretty much in the direct path of off track adventures.

that fucking blows. at the end of the video the guy looks seriously shook up about it, on his knees and all.
and the NSX owner WOW spidey-sense for reals

i hope all fared and recovered well from that

Wow! It does look like they changed their pitting strategies since 2006. The last time Grant and I were there for a similar event, they used the actual pit entrance/exit. But that was the 'Single Infield' course. I guess the 'East Course' doesn't allow access to the actual pitlane.

Yeah... dumb driver.... hangs a wheel and decides to nail the brakes. I'm sure it happened quickly but still, that is something that should be covered in the prerace meetings. Hope everyone made it out of that ok.
